Rewards
Earn points for what you add to DrinksLooker — drinks, reviews, tours and recipes — for the Helpful votes your reviews get and for the tours you complete, and climb the ranks. Your rank shows as a badge on your profile picture.
How you earn points
Every drink, review, tour or recipe you add is worth points. The current prices are listed on the Rewards screen under Points for what you add. A few rules:
- Content counts once it's published. If something you added is removed or blocked, its points are taken off; if it comes back, so do its points.
- An item keeps the points it was worth when you added it, even if the prices change later.
- Reviews: a detailed review — 20 or more words of 5+ letters (for Chinese or Korean text, 40 or more characters) — earns the full review price. A short review (3 words or more, or 6+ Chinese/Korean characters) earns the smaller Short review price when it is on the price list; anything shorter earns nothing. When the price list says Any review (even stars only), every review earns at least that price. Editing a review moves it between these levels — both ways.
- Drinks: a drink added without a picture can be worth less (Drink without a picture). Add a picture later and it earns the full drink price; remove the picture and it goes back to the lower one.
- Helpful votes: when someone taps Helpful on your review, you get points (Helpful vote on your review) — as long as the review stays published and the vote isn't taken back. You can't mark your own reviews, and everyone can give up to 20 Helpful votes a day; taking a vote back doesn't give it back for that day.
- Tours: finishing a tour (Complete on the "Rate tour" screen) earns Completed tour once per tour — doing it again, or completing your own tour, earns nothing. The text you write there earns Long tour review or Short tour review by the same length rules as reviews; if you've completed the tour more than once, only your latest text counts.
- Already on the menu: when you add a drink and pick the one that's already there instead of adding a copy, your review also earns Found the drink on the menu (no duplicate) — once per drink, not for drinks you added yourself, and up to a daily limit.
- A store you add earns points only if Unique Store is on the price list — the drinks you add to it always do. By the Book recipes and Bootlegger's recipes have prices of their own.
Ranks
Ranks come in five tiers, each with its belt colour, like in martial arts: Green, Blue, Red, Purple and Black. A tier has four levels, each with its own name and number — twenty in all, I to XX (Sip Cadet I, Liquid Rookie II … Sergeant of Sips V … The Eternal Pourer XX) — and every level has five stars, ★ to ★★★★★ — each star is its own rank. The level and stars sit on a small plate in the tier's colour next to the rank's name — for example Bottle Scout on a green plate with IV ★★★★★ — and the badge gets a ring in that colour, so you can see at a glance how high a rank is. The first rank, Sip Cadet I ★, comes at 5 points; below that you have no rank yet. Every new star brings a new rank, a new certificate and (if you're subscribed) an email.
Each rank needs a number of points; until you reach the first one, you have no rank yet. When your points reach the next rank, you get it automatically — your new badge appears on your profile picture. A rank you've earned stays yours even if your points go down later.
Other people see your rank and badge next to your name on your reviews, recipes and in your Hall of Fame. Tapping someone's picture on a review or recipe shows it bigger, with their name, rank and a large badge. To hide your rank, turn off ☰ → Settings → Show my rank.
Every new rank comes with a certificate — a page with your name, the rank and the date that you can share or print.
When you reach a new rank you may get an email with your new rank's badge with its level and stars, your points, what you need for the next one, a certificate icon that opens your certificate, its QR code, and a coaster icon to download the rank's coaster. You can unsubscribe from these emails with the link at the bottom of the email.
The Rewards screen
Open ☰ → My Stash → Rewards, or tap your rank under your name in your profile. You'll see:
- your badge, rank and points, how many points you need for the next rank, and View certificate for your current rank;
- All time and This month — how many items you added and the points they earned;
- Rank history — every rank you went through, from the first up to yours — with its level and stars (e.g. Private First Pour III ★★★★) — and the date you reached it; a promotion with a certificate shows the certificate's design (Gold or Classic — it keeps the design it was awarded with), and tapping it opens the certificate;
- By month — a table of what earned you points each month (drinks, reviews, unique stores, tours, recipes, Bootlegger's recipes, flyers, Helpful votes on your reviews, completed tours, tour reviews) with the points; for reviews, the number in brackets counts the ones that earn points;
- Points for what you add — the current prices, including the short review and no-picture prices;
- Ranks and how to reach them — every rank with its level, stars and the points it needs.
Rank history, Points for what you add and Ranks and how to reach them fold: tap a title to open or close it. Rank history starts open; your choice is remembered on this device.
